What is Aidpage... People Helping People

You are a tourist on a city street... trying to find your way. How do you get help?

Help Yourself

You use a map or a booklet with information about the city. That's ok... although... feels a bit like work... and is somewhat lonely.

People Helping People

You ask a passer-by for directions... Or simply, a passer-by recognizes your "tourist" behavior, stops on his/her own will and spends 30 seconds (often much more) helping you. You feel good. The passer-by feels even better. Witnessing onlookers feel good too. What happens is an easy, almost instinctive "give and take"... so natural that we don't even think about who "gives", who "takes", or why is this happening. This is not "giving"... people are just helping each other.

So... what is Aidpage?

Aidpage is a free public space on the Web where you can:

  • speak out about your problems and needs,
  • act upon your need to help others,
  • join or organize groups for good causes.

Aidpage fosters informal communication among Aidmates, sharing of experience, and mutual support. Simply posting on Aidpage makes you an Aidmate.

E-Bay enables the simple, direct "people buying from people" over the Internet.

Aidpage enables the simple, direct "people helping people" over the Internet.

Hello, my name is Diane. I am in a desperate situation. I have intestinal cancer and unable to work. Recently, my neighbor (who I thought was a friend) stole 1000.00 from me. She knows how sick I am, yet stole from me anyway. I used to sell old coins and money on ebay. Now because of my loss, I had no way to restock my inventory. I used what money I had left to pay bills. I have had no luck with the state. They help with medical bills and food stamps but nothing else. I only make 650.00 from social security. I am so far behind on my rent now that the landlord had started the eviction process. I have no family, as I became a foster child early in my life. I have no friends that can help either. I don't know what to do as I have no where to go, or money to move if I did. I am on a waiting list for section 8, but they told me I could be waiting 3 years or more. I wouldn't mind so much living in my truck, but I have a small dog and two sweet kitties. I know they're not children, but they are the only family I have ever known. After all my surgeries (12) They have given me the inspiration to keep fighting. If I lose them now... I don't know if I could keep fighting all alone. Please, if anyone could help please contact me at allene22422000@yahoo.com  Thank you for taking the time to read this. God Bless All !!

I'm from New York, and there are some hospitals out here that offer tuition free training for nursing if you agree to work in the hospital for a certain period of time following the training.  I have a few friends who have done that and are still working at the hospital.  Do any of the hospitals out there offer a similar deal?

I think this is a wonderful idea. There are so many people going without and so many who have more then they know what to do with. I work full time and still dont make enough money to get a habitat for humanity home for my family of five. Thats pretty sad because make slightly over minimum wage. I dont know how people are making it at all anymore. Its a battle everyday to pay my bills on time and I am slowly giving up hope of owning a home someday with the mortgage crisis and the fact that we barely make ends meet now. Its a sad fact that hard working, dedicate, loving parents will never be able to give their children the American Dream life style that generations of the past could. Until the wealthy are able to help the needy I am afraid to see how many families with kids our homeless shelters will consist of.

You're kidding, right? "invited"? when people extend "invitations," they don't ask to be paid.

This is my first visit to this terrific website.

I'm a single mom of twin teens, take care of my 84 y.o. mom, can't find a job, "overqualified" is what I've been told, 52 may be the real reason, no health insurance, one month behind on mortgage, one week away from utilities cut off, selling home items on ebay for $$, and diagnosed as schizophrenic and manic despressive.

My son applied for an academic program in DC where they go to class 6 days a week, debate current issues every evening, live in a college dorm, learn how our government works and earn a semester of credit if they pass the test. He is planning a law career to help the needy. He has to raise every dollar to go. He is writing every single person he can think of and is working to earn his money. He has a 3.5 GPA, will earn his Eagle Scout this summer and go on at least one Church Mission trip in the rural South. It would never dawn on him to post a request here for money to go to Europe on a sight seeing trip when there are posts up and down the page here from people who are just trying their best to keep a home for their children, food on the table and gas in the car to go to work.

Did you even read the plight of these families and individuals who have posted their stories here? After reading them, I am going to pray for these families because I am grateful for what I have and see that so many are less fortunate than our family.

Advice to you to go on your dream travel summer: Get a job. Do some local fundraising by seeing what you can do for others to earn a little money. Think it over again - is going to Europe this summer really all that important or would there be an opportunity in your community to help children learn to read, assist the seniors who have no one or raise a little money for those who are hungry?

Then Pray for those less fortunate than you. And be grateful for America.

I need help well more like guidance. I would like to know if anyone knows of any medical assisting positions in the Inland Empire, CA. Work has been so dry out here lately we are slowly but surely going broke. I have enough money saved to pay my rent for the next few months but after that if I can not find work I will be SOL. I would also like to know if anyone knows of any full scholarships out there for a Nursing program. I was on the honor roll and my GPA is 3.75 and I would like to further my career in healthcare but do not have that kind of money for school and childcare for my son. Please any little bit of information would help. Thanks in advance.

I find myself struggling to keep my head above water as life is throwing me one test after another and I am characteristically a very proud person who hates asking for help but I am running low on options; so low in fact that I am reaching out online to strangers… lol. (I’m laughing at myself here… no offense. Has it really come to this? The saddest part is that it has.) I need 602.00 to pay my rent before I get evicted… I suppose the beginning would be the most logical place to start explaining… I am a twenty-two year old part-time office assistant, (and until recently) a full-time enrolled student in school to pursue a degree in dentistry, and most importantly, a single mother of two wonderful boys; one that turned three on Christmas eve and the other turning two in April. I decided that it was time to wake up and reconstruct my life for the better and realized that I needed to get in school and go for my childhood dream of becoming a dentist and enrolled in Fall of 2007. I was accepted into the F.I.T. program (which is a program available in Texas where if you meet their financial and circumstantial requirements, Section 8 pays for your rent as long as you are enrolled in school full-time and maintain a B average for 2- 4 years, the typical duration it takes in order for one to get their degree). They also help you apply for grants and government assistance, such as child care and food stamps. I was set. And I successfully completed my first semester with a B. Before I go further, let me elaborate on something else. Their dad was paying steady child support until about October of 2007 when he lost his job. He was just recently employed at another establishment about 2 months ago. We have not been together since my first born was 6 months (when we separated, we didn’t know that I was pregnant with my second). He has a fiance who has one kid from a previous relationship and who has one on the way from him. During the time that he was unemployed, it was revealed that he in fact had another kid who is just a few months younger than my youngest that no one knew about until she took him to court!! Okay, I waited until the last Friday to register for my classes. The previous semester I took day classes and waitressed at night and no longer desired to do that… My plan was to find a part-time office job and take night-classes… I clarified this with him before I registered because I needed him to pick up the boys from daycare on Tues and Thurs… he said no problem… he was always usually good with helping out with the boys. That weekend my mom and my little brother go to Vietnam for a month and a half on vaction… it would be my brother’s first visit there and my mom’s first time back in over ten years. School presumes. Tuesday’s class went normally. I picked up the boys after I got out at 8:15. Thursday I go to my first class of that course. My phone is on silent. I get out at 8:15…. And I have million missed calls from the day care. HE DIDN”T PICK THEM UP FROM DAYCARE UNTIL 7:10 WHENEVER WE AGREED HE WAS TO PICK THEM UP ON THURSDAY AND HE GOT OFF OF WORK AT 5:00 ON PURPOSE… We had been fighting for about 2 weeks about his child support payments…. He hadn’t paid me a dime since October and they weren’t even garnishing his wages yet... but they were about to… and he was feeling the pressure of paying me support for my boys in addition to now they were also going to withhold for his “newly discovered” son…. That’s a total of 45% of his income!! I told him I would agree to lower it 100 but he wanted me to eliminate payments and to give him the boys…. That’s not even reasonable. HE WAITED UNTIL MY MOM WENT OUT OF THE COUNTRY, WHO IS MY ONLY SUPPORT SYSTEM I HAVE AND WAS GOING TO PROVE TO ME THAT I COULDN’T DO IT BY MYSELF AND FORCE ME TO REDUCE THE CHILD SUPPORT OR GIVE HIM CUSTODY. He didn’t pick them up on purpose… CPS got involved and shortly later they closed the case. I had no one to watch the boys… if he would have just told me he couldn’t help me out in the evening, I would have just enrolled in day classes and the boys would be in care. He knew that me and his kids rent was dependent on my ability to complete school and either I would buckle under the pressure choose school or get evicted… either way, to him it meant he was getting the boys and lower child support payments. I withdrew from school in feb because my grades feel below a B. I had a little bit of money saved up and managed to pay February’s rent. I have been trying to find a second job. My mom is back in town although she cannot help me out financially, I know she’s there to help with my kids. I still haven’t paid March’s rent and april’s is around the corner…… anything will help so much… and I’ll pay it back. Truly. Im just in over my head right now. Thank you. Just in case, my email is thuuuy@yahoo.com. Thanks again.

Hi, my daughter and I moved into a house in December and were lied to about how much it would cost to heat it. I have spent $1200 since Dec 22, 07 on heating oil. We have complained to the landlords and they are finally getting someone to look at the furnace, but I am completely out of savings, and out of heating oil again and it is still COLD!! We are having to use lots of blankets and dress very warmly and have been using the stove for a little at a time to get some heat.It is still in the low teens here at night and low thirties in the days with lots of wind.  I talked to an attorney and he said I could sue for failure to disclose on this, but I would get kicked out and we have no where else to go and no money now for a deposit on another place.

I work full time, am in college full time and on the deans list, and do not qualify for any assistance because I work full time ($8.00) and own my vehicle and have to much "equity" to recieve help. I am where I can pay rent for this month, or get heat. I can not use a space heater - I had one overheat and burn down a house several years ago and I am terrified of them. I don't know any other options.

I don't get child support because my ex-husband was very abusive and is in prison for 15 years for attempted murder on me. His family blames me and has written us off. My family has no money to help us. I am terrified of failing my daughter again. Please help us. We are praying desperately. We just need money to help us get more heating oil or with a deposit to get into a better place that has a better source of heat. Thanks wildfirechik@yahoo.com

My husband and I have both lost our jobs in the past 3 years.  While we are currently working full-time, unfortunately it is not at the rate of pay we were currently making at our long term jobs (9 years and 17 years).  We have filed bankruptcy and are in risk of having our home foreclosed upon.  Our family (including a 3 year old and 5 year old) is now without health insurance because our budget can not afford anything additional.

I've looked to all of these government programs for help with our mortgage issue, but because we're in bankruptcy no one wants to help.  By the way, we filed Chapter 13, so we are trying to pay back our debts.

Someone please help!  We're at our wits' end!

I went to the dentist yesterday and it is going to cost me 3900.00 to get all of my teeth fixed. Every tooth I have that doesn't have to be extracted has to be worked on.  I can't eat hardly anything because I have so many broken ones and I haven't been able to smile without my hand covering my mouth for years now. I have called several dentists in my city and none of them offer a payment plan. My teeth are twice as bad as they were just 13 months ago and if I don't get them fixed soon I am really going to be in trouble. Please, anyone that would be willing to help me with this I would appreciate it more than I could ever say.  I can email pictures to prove how bad they are. I could make payments also, I just have no credit and am in desperate need!

Frank Vernacchio is a husband, father, grandfather and long time resident of Delaware County.  Frank is a self employed auto body repairman who suddenly suffered a heart attack which subsequently led to quadruple heart by-pass surgery and a long lengthy rehabilitation.  In this day and age it's unfortunate that many people suffer from cardiac illnesses; however in Frank's case it may be his passion for others that put the strain on his heart.  You see, Frank has touched the lives of not hundreds but thousands of families.  He is best known for being the guy who will 'Give you the shirt off his back'.

In addition to his auto body career, many years ago Frank began to get involved in youth ice hockey in the community.   Since then, Frank has volunteered thousands of hours to kids in the community sharpening their skates and using his technical skills to save families added expense by repairing their hockey equipment.  Because of Frank's generosity thousands of children are able to participate in something positive which is priceless in today's society.  Franks skills are not limited to just auto body and hockey, he is a knowledgeable person with a lifetime worth of experience that he has always offered to both friends and strangers.  He would sacrifice his own needs to help others without expecting any financial reward.  Frank is one in a million who sincerely helps others from the heart.  With that being said, now Frank needs our help.  Because of his recent health problems, Frank for the first time in over six decades is unable to work and will face financial hardships.  We, "The Friends of Frank"  (FOF) are reaching out desperately seeking help from any professionals and business owners who could make contributions or donations to help us raise money to help Frank in this time of need.

Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated.  FOF is currently hosting a benefit on April 5, 2008 at the St. Kevin's Hall in Springfield to raise money for Frank and his family.  We are currently looking for items to be raffled off as well as paper goods, food, beverages and any other items that are used in these fundraiser's.

My nickname is 55Merryl and I have Cancer, but I am unable to pay my premium for insurance, because the worker who was working on my case said I was ineligible to get medical assistance. He did not go over the entire law for the exemptions to find where I was eligile for medical assistance and he said he was not going to go over the entire law to look for the exemption. He was just too lazy to help.

I  live in Pennsylvania .  It was the same thing for Cash Assistance. As a result I have no income for the month of March.

I  will be able to get Disability, but the first I will receive will not be until April 16, 2008

I need an attorney to help me get cash assistance and medical assistance for the Month of March and I need assistance with paying my March's rent.

Also I need money to pay my Bills for March.

I am also looking for work in the area where I live. I live in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton, PA area. The kind of work I am looking for is Customer Service, Paralegal, Data Entry doing Medical Billing and Medical Insurance Claims. I need a job at the least starting around March 2, 2008 so that I have income coming into my household.

I used to work as an Unemployment Claims Interviewer with PA Department of Labor and Industry. The heman resource director of where I work is going around defaming me and telling everybody he can that I was a trouble maker when in fact I was not. He is even allowing former coworkers of mine to try to harass me and steal from me.  As a matter of fact, 3 of my former coworkers got a hold of my bank card and they charged about 200.00 to my account and I had to get my bank to reverse those charges. This happened in November, 2007 and I have hard evidence to that.

I need an attorney to help sue the director of human resources for defamation and harassment and to help me get reinstated right away back to my former job.

Is there anyone out there who can help me with my situation

I am a single mom.  I need immediate help with, gas, electric and a few other bills.  I have been looking for a job and I am willing to do anything at this point.  I am trying to hold on for 2 more years for my daughter.  I have no friends and no one that I can turn to.  I am extremely lonely, I truly don't know where to go for help of how to turn things around right now.  I want to be able to pay back what ever help someone could offer me.  I am so scared right now, I have tried everywhere.

I am a single mother of a mildly autistic 4 year old boy. Recently I was diagnosed with a severely developed case of systematic lupus, and during the diagnosis it was discovered that I have tumors in my lungs. I have been unemployed while I attend college and I donate most of my free time to my church or others who need help with household chores, grocery shopping, etc. I have always been a charitable woman, a good Christian, and always tried to do my best for me and my son. However, now I am in great need of a vehicle, a place to live, and and financial help that anyone can offer concerning clothing, groceries, and so on. I applied for disability but the waiting period where I live is between 6 months to a year and I haven't even been approved yet. Doctors are telling me I only have a few more years to "make it count" before I am completely bed ridden and will need 24 hour assistance. I have to go for dialysis and many other treatment programs because of damage done to my organs by Lupus. I currently do not have a car and I am in search of a charity that may be able to help- If any one knows something that might help me and my son in our situation I am DESPARATE at this point. I need these treatments to live and at this time I have no transportation ( there is no bus where I live, we live in the hills ) .

I'm looking for someone to please help me out financially, and PLEASE only those who are serious and no scams.  I know all these internet postings may be hard to reach someone who is serious about lending or giving people money but it's something that's worth trying to me!  I am 26 years old, with two kids (2 years and 5 months), my husband works full-time to try and make ends meet, I was laid off from my full time position a week before Christmas so as you can imagine the bills have begun to stack up. I was laid off right after returning from maternity leave so as you can imagine I was devastated. I begin my new full time job in three weeks, (when they could start me) however in the mean time we need financial assistance in order to make ends meet and pay mortgage, car payment and normal bills and also groceries for our two young sons.   PLEASE PLEASE help us out if you can, I am looking for at least $1500.  Any donations or contributions would be GREATLY appreciated, I do have a Pen Pal account we can use if you would like, if you would like more details on my situation or a breakdown of bills I would be GLAD to show anybody.  Thank you for taking the time to read this listing and God Bless.

Okwaks.

Am an orphan ,who never so how my papa looked like. For he was murdered when i was only a bout ayear old, could hardly know him.

He was a little successful businessman in the neighboured and that was the reason for his death, narrates my now old mum.

Tradition has that upon the death of a son in a family, the follower takes over as the the over seer of the property including the wife, for she too was a property of the clan! This one my mum got was a particularly bad! So them fight a couple of times but did not care anyway for i was only a small thing, until this unfortunate afternoon when my uncle put a panga on my throat with the intention of killing me,i can not quite remember what i had done but somewhat did not kill ,i donot know why or who saved me.

That is when my mum ,told me to follow my half brother to school, not knowing the intention ,i followed my brother with the joy of joining school.A couple of weeks later my mum followed at school and told me we were off to see grand papa.I did not know him and was happy to see my mums pap.We trekked a long way i can still vividly remember, then got to a main road where we reached my mamas house.

Since that time to only yesterday i  was raised with my mamas siblings like one of them.I called my grand ma mummy because every else did,we lost her to cancer in 1994,then i was in senior one.She and my mum paid my tuition. My mum did not study past primary school ,she a mere housewife. This then is when her sister,a midwife ,having looked at my first term grades said she would pay fees.she did this successfully through my Ordinary and Advanced level in 1999 and durind our vacation she died.My life has never been any better eversince knowing that my only hope for a future was gone, she left two  daughters also helpless.I have had to stay out of school to fend for them and my mum ,my sister ,a half brother and sister my mum got.

Last year i made a resolution to get back to school at whatever cost,it seemed to work because indeed i joined University.I do alot growing mostly vegetables, and it was all good.Late last yaer while at school ,i read in a news papers that floods had affected our place, did not feel that bad because i had not seen the extent of the damage! On Nineth of December last year we broke for first semester holidays. To raech my Village ,there was no home ,every body was in camp because the mad and wattle structures we called houses were no more!

I donot see my self continue with school because once my only source  was swept a way by floods.

I have to start a gain from zero, this time am not sure whether it works out well.

Am appealing to anywellwiser to help me pay my tuition atleast  i may my degree course in order to better our state .e-mail,okwalingajf@yahoo.com.God bless all you helping hands out there.

Thank you for that response.  Unfortunately, this apt wasn't in my name so I couldn't make arrangements for it or anything.  When the apt mgr contacted the person on the lease she told them she didn't care wasn't paying money..they can do what they need to do, etc... so the apt is considered abandoned and my kids and I are "squatters".  That's why we're being removed.

I want you all to know that it has helped to exchange words here.  It helps me to feel like I'm not entirely alone in this situation and it has provided me with someone to talk to.  For any of you to even take the time out to read my words and comment has meant a lot to me.  Thank you.  I have talked to my kids and they want to move.  Of course, I'm making it sound more like choice that we are moving.  Believe it or not, through everything we've been through, my kids have never been sad, scared, or malnourished and that's all I care about.  When we were living in my car it was a "camping trip".  When all I had to feed them was a few veges, I called it an "experimental Diet" .. I never felt that they needed to be involved in knowing that it was because we were poor.  I may have lost everything I owned but I always hung onto their favorite toys, favorite bowls, cups, everything they made them feel a sense of home..(another thing to be thankful for)  I really don't want them to grow up with the mindset that this is what life is about.  I want them to be carefree to do what they want to do in life that makes them happy not just what makes them money..

Everything has a purpose right, and I'm hoping something good is at the end of this dark tunnel I'm about to walk through.  Here I go.  Infinite love and light to you all and again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Make sure whatever type of notice you have has come from a court house and has a file number on it.   A letter from your landlord or notice only from the landlord is not an eviction. If it is not in the court system yet, you do have some time. Check your local laws and see what you find. Search for Landlord and Tennent information in your area through a search engine.  God Bless and Good Luck.

Tell your girls the truth. Most children have an idea of what is going on anyway, they just play the same game parents play. They let the parents think they don't know.

I wish you the very best.

Thank you for your prayers.  I'm trying to hold on.  I found out today we'll be forcibly removed on Wed.  It's a shock b/c I only missed rent this month.  Not sure what to tell my girls.  I've started to clear out things but I'm really scared.  I'm afraid of what I might do.  Please continue to pray for me.

Someone out there please help. TODAY.  I came upon this site after another night of being unable to sleep with worry.  I know it does no good to worry and based on the laws of attraction it's downright harmful but I can't help myself.  I'm a mother of 2 girls-10 and 12.  No father involved and I have no family.  No friends either since I only work and come home and take care of my family.  It has been a constant struggle to stay above poverty, I've been homeless and have lost everything I built up, twice.  My kids and I had to move over 10 times in a 4 year period.  I tried going back to school, I've worked 60-70 hour weeks but cannot get ahead.  The last couple of years improved, a place to stay, my kids finally have a computer now, we have beds, some furn, etc and I am very thankful.  The problem is, I lost my job and in one month I'm now facing eviction again, food is sparce, my lights are going to be turned off as soon as the weather heats back up and I have noone to turn to and nowhere to go or money to get there.

The main thing is, honestly, I just find that I have no strength left to fight, to rebuild, if I lose everything again, I don't know what I will do.  It can't be this hard, can it?  I'm educated, civic-minded, respectful, spiritual...I'm the kindest person you'd want to meet. I want to change the world and be a writer but all my thoughts now are consumed with feeding and sheltering my family.  I've already tried non-profits in my area and even welfare turned me down b/c my car's value was too high!!!  Please someone, my angel, if you can pray for me or send me financial help I will truly be grateful.  My email tphillips281@comcast .net (which won't be avail much longer) or myspace under http://www.myspace.com/knowone_noone

I ma here because I need help. My wife and I have gone through horrible times. In November 2005 she told me she had an affair. In Jan 2006 she filed for divorce and eventually moved out, taking our 4 year old daughter with her. I went for custody and won. After a year long separation, in which she had a baby by the man she cheated on me with, she wanted to reconcile. I took her back. Well it was not long before she was cheating and lying again. Now she lied to get me out of my house with a restraing order and wants to regain custody of our daughter. It was all a lie to get the house and our girl in the divorce. I need help paying my lawyer to fight to keep my home and daughter. Please help. If you can donate anything use my paypal account which is attached to this email matts128@aol.com. Or email if you like and we can work out the details.

I am a father of two small children. I am on here embarrassed and seeking donations. I have posted my Paypal account below and my BMO account below to show that I am not lying. Not enough money to pay bills, I am overdrawn on my account both the mastercard and my chequing account, not enough money to pay for food and rent..I lost my job as a truck driver and even though I may find one quickly, I cannot get welfare as I qualify for EI (Assistance), but it takes about 4 weeks before the first cheque arrives and it won't help to put food on the table for my children. As you can see I have accounts for my children too, but they have all been drained. If you want to donate through paypal..the email address is jcadol@shaw.ca or you can mail any aid to Roger Simmons #203-1021 Howay Street, New Westminster, BC, V3M 1Z9, Canada. Thank you for any help.
